Kathlyn Mozingo
MA, Temporary Permit Counselor
Kathlyn is passionate about coming alongside you through life’s challenges. Kathlyn utilizes a person-centered approach to counseling, focusing on the client’s self-efficacy in creating change in their life and using modalities consistent with Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Kathlyn believes that counseling is a collaborative relationship between counselor and client in which her role is to come alongside the client, meeting them where they are at and providing support through challenges. She emphasizes psychological flexibility and a client’s individuality in treatment, empowering clients to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe and welcoming environment. Having formal education and experience in treatment modalities, theories, and counseling skills, Kathlyn is comfortable and competent to tailor therapy to support the client’s goals, strengths, and preferences. Kathlyn approaches counseling with a Biblical worldview, meaning that she believes that God and the Bible provide a thorough and helpful framework for learning and healing. However, she believes it is important to follow ethical guidelines regarding a person’s individual beliefs and desires, ensuring a client feels heard and respected throughout the counseling relationship. Kathlyn’s experience includes providing both adult and adolescent counseling for symptoms related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, adjustment to life changes, substance use, domestic violence, trauma, emotional regulation, and couples therapy.
Kathlyn is a Temporary Permit Counselor in the state of West Virginia. She holds this title while she works to complete her state licensure counseling exam.
